The atolls of the Amirantes Group are low-lying, circled with coral reefs and lush with plantations of coconut palms. The copra produced here is the best in the Indian Ocean. The sugary white beaches are an inviting place to land for relaxation, snorkeling and perhaps a barbecue on deck.
Desroches stands majestically on a submerged atoll, 230 kilometres southwest of Mahé, and is the most eastern island in the Amirantes group. It is 6km long and 1.5km wide at its widest point
