The Dominican Republic comprises the eastern two-thirds of the island of Hispaniola (La Isla Española) the first New World colony settled by Spain. Hispaniola island is the second largest country in the Caribbean with an area of 30,000 square miles. It is bordered on the North by the Atlantic Ocean and the South by the
Caribbean Sea.

Over 400 kilometers of sparkling beaches span the South, East, Southwest and North coasts. These include the beaches of Boca Chica, JuanDolio-Guayacanes, La Romana, and Bayahibe in the Southeast; Punta Cana and Bavaro in the East; Paraiso and Enriquillo in the Southwest; and on the North Coast, Puerta Plata, Sosua, Cabarete Playa Grande and Luperon.

Don't miss a horse-drawn carriage ride thru the Jardin Botanico.

Hotels to watch for:

Allegro Resorts - Composed of Jack Tar Village (adults only), Caribbean Villages and Allegro Resorts. All are all-inclusive, and located all over the island. Most are 3 star and offer excellent value. There are 2 Jack Tar's and 3 Caribbean Villages and one Allegro resort located on the north coast. One Caribbean Village is located on the south coast not far from Santo Domingo.

Casa De Campo - A 5 star resort encompassing two 18 hole golf courses, polo, trap, skeet and 9 restaurants. Offers most water sports, horse riding and boat rentals.

Electricity is 110v, 60 cycles.

Weddings must first be approved by the American Consulate in Santo Domingo by mail. Once that is done yata yata yata. To much trouble.
