Know Your Departure Taxes:
A tourist has finally flown home after he reportedly became stranded in a Brazilian airport for some five months.
Dutch traveller held a valid airline ticket, he did not have enough money to pay departure tax and subsequently missed his flight.
The problems really started, however, when he was informed that the ticket was non-changeable and non-refundable.
He reportedly started sleeping in the airport, cleaning restaurants and being paid in food and money.
Once he had raised enough to pay the departure tax, Ananova reports, Brazilian police managed to persuade the un-named carrier to accept the original ticket.
