The city is located on Tupinambarana island in the Amazon River.
There is no road to Parintins. It is accessible either by river or by air. Here they celebrate the famous Boi Bumba Festival, similar to Rio's Carnival. Local factions vie to produce the most fabulous costumes, dances and songs.
