Home Activities and Interests Contact

Dublin is the home town of such literary greats as Joyce, Yeats and Beckett and modern day stars like U2 and Hothouse Flowers, but it still has a delightful small town feel. Strolling down Grafton Street or along St. Stephen's Green, or exploring the gorgeous coastline, the joys of Ireland are never far away.

Dublin is a bit easier to get around now that a second Luas light-rail line has opened. This new "red" line, which opened to paying riders Oct. 4, runs from O'Connell St. to Tallaght. The route does not connect directly to the first, "green" line, which began operating in May. Trams run 5:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. Monday to Friday, with shorter hours on weekends. Luas is handy for getting to top Dublin sights. On the red line, the Connolly stop is near the National Museum of Archaeology; the Henry Street stop is adjacent to Temple Bar; Hueston Station is near Dublin Zoo and Phoenix Park; and James Street is by the Guinness Storehouse. "Slan go foill," as they say in Irish. Or, "See you soon."

Blessed Columba Marmion
Memorial 3 October
Died 1923

O Lord, our God, You have given Your servant, Columba, to understand so well that by our Baptism we are Your adopted children and brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ: as a good Father graciously hear the prayers which we address to You to obtain through his intercession this favor. Teach us by his example and doctrine how to live generously as true Christians with a childlike confidence and a simplicity abounding in love. Likewise, is such is Your pleasure, show clearly by miracles, how pleasing Your servant is to You, so that Holy Mother Church may be able to declare him a Saint. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
