Morelia*The State of Michoacan, which borders the states of Colima and Jalisco to the west, Guanajuato and Querétaro to the north, México to the east, Guerrero to the south-east, and the Pacific Ocean to the south is famed for its autumn Day of the Dead festivities.
Michoacan has a rich history. The name "Michoacan" comes from the Nahuatl words-- michin which means "fish," hua which means "those who have," and can which means "place " - because of its abundance of lakes, Michoacan has been called "the land of fishermen." Some better known towns and cities are
Morelia*, Ucareo, Charo, Cuitzeo and Patzcuaro.
Northeast Michoacán is also famous for the beautiful monarch butterflies that spend the winter in the surrounding mountains.
