Airport code is MZT. Located on the west coast of Mexico across from Cabo San Lucas at the opening to the Sea of Cortez. Mexico's largest Pacific ocean port, Mazatlan has been called the 'Pearl of the Pacific' for its splendid beaches and island-strewn harbor. One of the worlds largest shrimp fleets is based here. The resorts of Zona Dorada ('Golden Zone') deserve their fame,as does the sport-fishing which is known the world over, yet somehow the city maintains much of the simplicity and peace of its fishing village past.
Inland from Mazatlan is a farming area rivaling California's San Joaquin valley. For those of you that like the blood sport, bullfighting is available each Sunday from Christmas until Easter. Sport fishing, beach combing and shopping will fill your days in this laid back town. For the golfers, there are 2 courses in the area.
