Part of the Dutch Caribbean,Located about 35 miles north off the coast of Venezuela this island is one-third of the ABC islands and between Aruba and Bonaire. Its Latin roots, which extend from nearby Venezuela, combine in a heady mix with the Dutch culture that dates back to the 17th century.
Spanish and Dutch in history, the people are friendly and outgoing speaking a mixture of Spanish and Dutch and their own Papiamento. With fishing, bowling, diving, horseback riding , tennis, squash there are plenty of day time activities. Although it does have its share of beautiful beaches, which are mainly located on the west of the island, it also boasts one of the most impressive and historic areas of the Caribbean. The western part of old Willemstad has been placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List and there are 765 protected monuments and sites in this area alone.

There are more than 100 dive sites to choose from - 60 of these have been formally identified and 44 of them are equipped with chains - while divers can expect visibility to range from 60ft to 150ft.
