Disney Cruise Line has added a mysterious pirate ship to the private island, providing guests with a swashbuckling photo opportunity and a peek into movie-making magic. Starting in early July, guests sailing on a Disney ship will discover a 175-foot "ghost ship" anchored at the island. The ship is the Flying Dutchman, which makes its silver screen debut on July 7 in Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest." The Flying Dutchman's commander is the legendary Davy Jones, who serves as nemesis to the infamous pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow, in the upcoming film. The film prop features ragged sails and a barnacle-encrusted bow to look like it was raised off the ocean floor. The Flying Dutchman will provide a scenic photo backdrop, and guests renting boats on the island will be able to get an up-close look at the ghost ship. Disney will also hold a premiere at sea of the movie in the Walt Disney Theatre of both the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder. On July 7, passengers will receive commemorative buttons and pirate-themed temporary tattoos and will be invited to view the premiere of the film at 12:01 a.m. Starting this summer, the Disney Magic will embark on seven-night alternate Western Caribbean itineraries with two stops at Castaway Cay. The special itinerary sails every fourth week, through Dec. 9, and will also include two days at sea and stops at Costa Maya and Cozumel.
