Lying some 60 miles east of Puerto Rico, the British Virgin Islands are chiefly volcanic in origin, with the exception of Anegada, a coral and limestone atoll. Most of the islands are grouped around Sir Francis Drake Channel, named after that famous English sea dog.
Although there are over 50 islands, rocks and cays dotting the sparkling blue water, many of them are uninhabited. Whether the visitor arrives by air or by sea, he will be overwhelmed by the surrounding beauty and sense of solitude.
The British Virgin Islands cover 59 square miles and have a population of 18,000.
One thing you should do is have a personalized calypso made up for you by Foxy Callwood at Foxy's Tamarind Bar on Jost Van Dyke island.
